Hello,...

New here and thinking about taking THE STEP towards a 33...

All the pictures I see are 33 with out wipers and there is no way I'll get it to pass inspection here with out wipers..

What are the options?

Thanks
Robert

I mounted a "mighty wiper" on the roof. Haven't really used it yet, but it's compact and reasonably priced.

I am building mine as a roadster but need wipers to pass DMV title inspection. I used two "Mighty-Wipers". I don't care that they won't be in sync. It is just for inspection.

I dug up a picture from when I mocked it up. I will most likely remove the arms and install "Bullet" caps on the shafts after inspection. Yes, I will keep the arms in the trunk so that if I get caught in the rain I will have them.

Bought these from Dan Ruth, fits really nice and even has "intermittent" mode of operation with the switch!

The basic parts come from this site:

I buy the components from SPW and I make a transmission mount and all the drives and tubes and wiring and ship it completely assembled with simple instructions which require only the 2 cowl holes and a hole for your switch. The wiring is complete and ready to attach to your FF purple wire and a ground. Takes about 2 hours to install.I have completed a dozen or more to date. Feel free to contact me at dan@innovativerodding.com

I never thought I would say this about wiper blades but those billets on the red 33 are beautiful. Do they work off of some kind of split gear drive (opposed rotation)? Thanks, WEK.

Wouldn't you think that the Kit would come with wipers? Hello, how many cars today run around with no wippers? how many states don't require wipers?

Jack,

The kit does not come with wipers and nor does FFR offer any. A few years ago I was told by FFR that they would just let the "aftermarket" handle the wipers. You are correct though, that there are States that require them. Here in NJ, they are a requirement for State DMV title inspection. That is why I came up with the wipers that I did. They sure don't look as nice as Dan's but I came up with mine before I knew about his. I also have the bulky HVAC system behind the dash to contend with.

The kit also does not come with fenders. That too is a requirement in some States. At least FFR offers some.

They are really quite simple, they have a motor that turns a wheel much like an old Steam Locomotive with an arm that rotates in and out pushing a flexible cable that is wound with a skipped spiral, the spiral engages a simple gear attached to the wiper shafts and as the cable moves in and out the gear moves back and forth. The cable rides in a aluminum tube that can be bent to meet the needs of the application. It is very quite and effective.

The billet arms are cool but are not designed to be used with a curved windshield. Had to change to the stainless steel arms and flexible blades to get the performance required.

Have you got any pictures on the installation and how it looks afterwards?

Thnx
