Self Canceling Turn Signal Switch

I have a Mark 4 with the Russ Thompson T/S switch that needs to be replaced. It won't self-cancel on left turns.
Does anyone know what Volkswagen switch Russ used to make his kit?

Try pulling the wiring out of the hub, slightly. Russ's initial instructions, wires pushed into the hub would interfere with operation.

You have to cut off the VW stalk and make provisions to attach the new stalk.

several guys have removed the turn signal, disassembled it and re-greased it and it works fine -did something break? or is it just sticking?
