The problem I知 having is when I press down on the brake pedal both front turn signals in the headlights light up as well as the turn signal indicator lights on the dash light up. I have checked everything I can think of and I知 totally confused. What am I missing? This is on the 1935 hot rod truck. The headlights have the DRL strip in the center of the headlights which also acts as the turn signal.

Do the brake lights work? If not you might have a mismatched wire in the column plug.

Take a look at the connector from the main harness to the dash harness. Ron Francis has had a rash of harnesses that got out with wires crossed on this plug and since they are for turn signal indicators when it happens they cross feed and cause these wonky problems. If it looks like this you've found the problem---

The wire colors have to be the same on both sides of the connector.

If it is mismatched connectors on the dash harness...it is an easy fix. Use a metri-pac 150/280 terminal removal tool to depin the connectors and re-arrange the connectors. I just performed this fix recently after contacting FFR as to how to proceed. It took about 20 minutes. Make sure to lightly lift the spring tabs on the connectors when re-inserting into the plug to insure they stay locked in. Thanks to PNWTim for posting the correct tool to perform.

If all the lamps are at their normal brightness, then likely a wiring fault.
If at partial brightness, then look for a poor or missing ground.

If you find the mismatched wires Ron Francis will send you a new dash harness and a shipping ticket to return the old.

In the dash harness, Where the wires come together for the directionals if using a toggle switch like on a roadster, the wires to the front turn signals need to be snipped. Because you are using the column connector the brake lights back feed through that connection to the dash lights and front turn signals.

it's on Page 244 of the hot rod truck manual I have.

Are you referring to this?

Cut the yellow and white rear turn signal light wires off the turn signal connectors that are for the dash
turn signal switch so that the turn signal lights do not back feed and light the front turn signals when the
brakes are pressed.

I couldn't copy the picture shown in the manual but it was in the Steering column Wiring section.

I just reread your post and realized I'm using the turn signal lever on the column. The only toggle switch I'm using is for the high / low beams for the headlights.
