View Full Version : Clear coating carbon fiber parts?

A question for the paint guru's out there. I am considering going with a CF hood scoop but would like to clear coat it if I did. Does the CF require any special preparation other than cleaning it to if I went this route? I was thinking maybe 3 coats? I would assume a standard cut and buff in between?

Also consider using a semi gloss clear. A friend did a CF dash and I was expecting the typical ricer full gloss super thick clear. The semi gloss made it look really nice but w/o the ricer look.
