View Full Version : Toe link torque: suspicious of "torque table" in manual

Ref.: Mk 4 roadster w/IRS.
The torque table on pg. 120 of Complete Manual (PDF-version) says that both ends are torqued at 100 ft-lbs.

I'm suspicious because the link-to-frame bolt is 5/8", same as the control arm bushings, which are also 100 ft-lbs,
but the link-to-spindle is an M14 bolt (0.551" dia. - 12% smaller diameter than the 0.625" bolt)

Clarification... anyone? Thanks!

Don't overthink it. Torque values are sometimes critical (like head bolts and certain torque-to-yield bolts) but for these suspension bolts the key point is the joint is fully tightened. In that range is fine. Those torque settings are OK.
