Just read a thread where the author posted that he trimmed 5/8" off the Tilton MCs before installing. Does that need to be done?

When I pulled my Wilwood MCs (rods trimmed by 5/8") for replacement with the Tiltons I compared the length. The Tiltons were pretty close to the cut Wilwoods so I didn't trim them. Don't want to go any further on brake work if I have to remove all three and trim them.

My Tiltons are 75-750.

If someone has them in and adjusted, could you share the thread length that you have?

Thanks,

Pat

I kept my Wilwood brake MCs but changed out the clutch MC to the Tilton and trimmed off 5/8". Perfect fit into the clevis based on pedal position and travel.

Based on input above and from others in another thread, I pulled the MC's and trimmed them.

Once I roughly lined up the pedal position, it seems pretty clear that they do need to be trimmed.

Hi Pat,

Do you recall how much you trimmed off?

Thanks,
Jesse

I did 1/2". I didn't go for the full 5/8 because when I compared them to the Wilwoods that had 5/8 cut off, they seemed to be a little shorter.
