I purchased a rear IRS dropout from a late-teen Mustang to source the diff, spindles, and rear brakes. Everything bolts up and the stock brakes seem fine in early go-kart stage. I’m trying to contrast and understand what I repeatedly see in build threads about the FFR non-Wilwood option that many builders wrestle with regarding shims, incorrect spindle hacksaw cuts, and just general mayhem. What am I missing? The stock Mustang rear brakes were plug-and-play for me….

Same for me. Plug-n-play from a 2015 drop out. No drama & the e-brake cable worked after shortening it at the handle.

Same for me. The OE IRS brakes are superb. I have never understood why FFR insists on going to something else. Especially since I see the same 'mayhem' as you in many threads.

I bet it's a cost thing.

Same, 2018 drop out. Even used the rear brake lines and brake junction fittings. Tried to reuse as much as possible.

Mike I guess if you are buying parts individually that could be true. I just made sure to find a takeout rear suspension that included brakes. I figured I got great rear brakes for free. And like Sarcastshrub, I even used the e-brake cables.
