I need help with the fuel assembly. I am installing a Roush 427 IR in my MK4 and using the aeromotive A1000 external fuel pump with filters. My question is what should I do with the fuel assembly. Seems what came with the kit will not fit the needed 10AN feedlines. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it was me I would never run an external pump. I would get an internal pump and hanger from ProM racing
https://www.promracing.com/high-flow-fuel-pump-hanger-for-1986-1997-mustangs.html
Note: I cannot believe how much they are getting for these now. I paid half that less than a year ago.

If not you can buy this

Agree with you about internal vs. external. I too am shocked by the Pro-M price these days. After using them in multiple builds. For my next build I'm going to try this: Holley Sniper EFI 12-345+ 340 LPH pump kit at about the same price as the Pro-M hangar alone although needs the -6 AN O-ring outlet and return fittings added. Made for the Fox body Mustang tank. An alternative for about the same price is the Aeromotive 18638. Not aware of any downsides for either.

Appreciate it fellas, this is what I need. Since I've already bought and mounted, I'll probably keep going on this path. Curious to know, why internal vs external? I was told on a few occasions, external is more convenient should it need to be replaced. Thanks again for the help!

Two reasons pretty widely accepted: Externals are noisy and internals tend to last longer because they're cooled by being immersed in the fuel tank. Maybe others but those are the common reasons.

No reason to use AN -10 fuel lines, unless you have over 1000hp

A lot of the Aeromotive regulator instructions call for larger lines up to -10AN, even for carb'd engines. Not sure why that is. As Rich said, -10AN is overkill. I ran -8AN feed and return via flex lines. Bending even that size of line might be challenging in NiCopp, or especially SS.

Holy cow, that Pro-M hanger is ridiculous. I paid $180 for mine about 15 months ago.

The Aeromotive A1000 is a great pump but it is loud, very loud...

I am using a simple mechanical pump on my mild 302. I have fabricated several fuel tank pickups in the past for carb applications using Foxbody and SN95 factory tanks... For my FFR I was going to purchase a Pro-M hanger simply because I didn't feel like fabricating another pickup... I thought it was a mistake when I saw the current price of the Pro-M hanger. For a couple of hours work and about $40 of fittings I fabricated another pickup...

I know right? Holy Moly!

I paid almost half of that for the same hanger WITH the pump. Quantum fuel makes the same thing. Used this unit on two builds

Maybe the A1000 is different from days past (20 years ago) but the pump would overheat and vapor lock quite regularly. That and unless you get a BIG fuel pressure regulator the base fuel pressure will be much higher than the 40-45psi most start with. I ended up finding a -8AN check valve from the aviation industry and ran an in tank pump for normal driving and then when the computed saw 1psi it would turn on the A1000. I had a 1000rwhp Mustang 20 years ago. I'm not sure what engine/poweradder combo you are building to need an A1000 but it sounds like fun! I went with a 427, 10.5:1 with a big had cam and big heads. I'm guessing around 600hp. I went with a Aeromotive 340lph in tank with -6AN feed and -4AN return. If you take apart the Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator you will see why you won't need any more than -4AN. Unless you are planning on a big regulator with a much bigger return valve.
