Hey,
Slowly working my way through the wiring, but I will need some advice. I have a Gen 3 Coyote and I'm following the instructions.
For the Tach connection with the FFR Vintage gauges, the manual says to take the purple wire out of the RF Sending unit harness and connect it to the #4 cylinder.
The Sending Unit harness does not have a purple wire.
My purple wire labeled "Coil/Tach" is bundled with a bunch of wires labeled Coil/EFI Crank.
Should I just run that over to the #4 cylinder independently?(inside a protective coil casing)

Also, am I indicating the correct connection point? (photo below)
Again, the Coyote Gen3 Fitment manual appears to show a different engine(?) with a connection on top.

Thanks in advance!
Chris

The wire in your 1st picture is the purple tach wire. The wire in your 3rd picture is next to the purple #4 wire you want to connect it too (looks grey maybe?). There is no "sending unit" per say, what they are saying is take the wire from the "sending unit" portion of the wiring harness. How you route that wire is entirely up to you. It can go in the coyote harness or route directly as long as it's inline with the #4 cylinder. The purple wires in the coil packs are always hot with 12v and the ignition is ground triggered. That's why to tap into that side. So the wire your arrow is NOT pointing at is the one you want.

The picture from the manual is a recycled image of a Gen 1 or Gen 2. They look a little different. I wouldn't get too hung up on that image.

Any rate go ahead and tie that Tach wire in like the manual shows and connect the other end to your gauge per the instructions and you should be all set.

Blitzboy54 is correct -- but here's a little more. First, it doesn't matter which cylinder you use. Whichever one best suits your routing. As far as which wire, look at all the connectors going into the coil packs. All eight have one that's the same color. That's the power wire and not the one you want. Pick the other one (color doesn't matter, different for each) for whichever cylinder you use. That's the trigger wire and has the signal the tach needs. Finally, don't forget your Vintage tach gauge (Speedhut) needs to be programmed for your engine. For the Coyote (individual coil on plug) you need to set at the 0.5 PPR setting. Builders miss this and wonder why their tach doesn't read correctly.

Thank you sir! It's a little daunting working out this wiring.
Cheers!
