View Full Version : Tilton MC Push Rod Question MK4

Just read a thread where the author posted that he trimmed 5/8" off the Tilton MCs before installing.
When I pulled the Wilwood MCs for replacement with the Tiltons I did compare the length. The Tiltons were within 1/8-3/16 of the cut length of the Wilwoods so I didn't do any trimming on the Tiltons.
I just double checked mine and think I'm ok but thought I'd check in here. I've filled and bled the front system, so I don't want to go any further if I have to pull all three of them again and do the cuts.
Maybe a good gauge would be the final length of the threads on Tiltons that others have installed?
My Tiltons are 75-750.
Thanks,

That thread about failed Wilwoods seems to have a lot of smart people that could respond to this….I’m also curious since I just ordered my Tiltons from Summit.
Maybe post there if no replies here?

I think I'll repost with a different header. Reading it over again, I guess I wasn't really clear on my question.

I have 76 series Tiltons and remember trimming some off of the threaded rods. I don't remember the exact amount, I set them up in the car so that the pedals were just about to the crossmember and exerting no pressure on the piston.

Thanks Mike. Will check things relative to the crossmember.
I have the 75 series and I recall cutting the push rods.

Eyeballed what Mike described above and decided to pull the MCs and trim them. Did that this morning and roughly adjusted the pushrods.
Thank you to all who responded.

PMD24, others who may do the same swap, the body length of the Tiltons is slightly different than the Wilwoods. But when I swapped mine (yes I was on the long thread on replacement) I decided that the relative dimension that mattered is from the mounting flange to the end of the rod. Since I was replacing a properly adjusted Wilwood, I counted turns as I removed the clevis, then measured the length as above, call it L for this example. Then I cut the Tilton to match (pic) and counted the same # of turns of the clevis going on as a starting point.212215
