Hello All,
I have a MK3 Roadster, runs/drives, has plates, but still needs the body work done. Striking out all over town on shops that I anticipated would be willing to take on such a project. Are the regional paint & body guys known to the forum the only real option? Initially I had preferred a local in the event I needed anything in the future addressed.

Located in Northern VA area. Willing to travel or ship it if something is viable sooner than later.

Thanks,
J

The 2 obvious choices in your "area" are spotlight customs in GA or Metal Morphous in New Haven CT. Neither is close but both are proven commodities and do body and paint for these cars regularly.

Have you tried Boggs Body in Warrenton, VA? Otherwise, I also recommend Spotlight Customs in Dahlonega, GA. They do excellent work.

I had my Mk 4 body and paint done by Whitby Motorcars in Greensboro, N.C. Ph#336-389-0904. WhitbyMotorcars.com They usually have a waitlist, in my case it was 3 years. I love the end result.

You could go to a local cruise or car show and ask folks who they recommend.

Ron does great work. I had my first one painted there. Always received a lot of compliments on the quality of the paint.

I was very happy with Ron at Metal-Morphus in CT. I enjoyed working with Ron and the car looks great! He has a lot of experience with cobras.

Best of luck.

3 years!?!?!

Whoa

Whitby does great work but lead times have grown very long. When mine was done 2014/2015 dropped the body off in July. It was done just after Thanksgiving. Took the chassis down to have them do the final assembly in December. Car was ready for pickup in January. Due to weather & open trailer got the car late February & plates in March.
