Hey all
Planning through my SBF 363 build and was hoping for some feedback on belt drive systems.
I’ve looked at Jones, March, Eddie and CVF.
I don’t want anything like the March or CVF. Very elaborate and you can’t really see it on our Mk4’s anyways.
I’m looking for something simple and compact keeping the alternator lower to clear the Holley Hi Ram I’m planning to use.
The Jones PN 1565 seems to be best suited however I’d likely upgrade the 70amp alt to a larger one.

Holley SBF is nicely compact and simple looking however the kit is no longer available without AC pump and piecing it together is quite a bit more $ than just buying a competitors complete kit.

Any feedback from those with SBFs would be appreciated.

I know what you're saying, I ended up piecing my own together. Using a GM Type II pump with a remote reservoir really helps with clearing the steering shaft.

A 70 amp alternator will work. You have a small amp draw with these cars

I also researched this quite a bit and settled on a solution from Gordon Levy. He sent me everything I needed. Very happy with it. Alternator, alternator bracket, all the pulleys, power steering pump, power steering reservoir, power steering cooler, and the lines to plumb it.

I've been researching accessory drive systems from the above mentioned vendors. Is there a reason that the alternator options are only offered in a 1G version versus say a 3G version?

Nice!
I’d like to get the alt lower.
I see he’s using the Jones PS pump. One thing I’m wondering if that pump with a Jones attached reservoir will clear the steering shaft.

On my 427, that pump with an attached reservoir will not clear the steering shaft, hence the remote reservoir.

I actually got my brackets off a guy on face book. Search Speed Doctor racing components. I like that i could use a stock pump, keep the alternator low, and atach the coil. The belt routing seems weird but he has a lot of custers that race and swears it works well. I'll find out this summer. Cost is 3-400.

Looks like he finally got a website https://speeddoctorracingcomponents.myshopify.com/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1sQPzsRa20fxE6yHg2LQER zymafgXv1oXj2ro3kwwDTO8z-TI5q4gNHAw_aem_hgGARGLb57_oBGqL0k4Blw (https://mattglaeser.smugmug.com/Home/9999-Factory-Five-Roadster/i-DPcvsd7/A)

You will not have any issues with the Speed Doctor brackets. I have used his brackets in drag racing and road racing applications with zero problems.

Do you recall if it was close to clearing?
Just wondering if my 363 application would clear.

A 363 is a small block, it'll clear

I never tried it with the attached reservoir. Gordon told me it wouldn't work, so we went with the remote reservoir option.

K thanks Greg
I saw you are also a SBF but know you’re a tad wider.
