I have a BW T5 from a 89 Mustang (supposedly), as far as trans fluid is SAE50 or 75W/90 acceptable?

It really depends on what material is used on the blocker rings. There should be a tag on the transmission. You can look up the exact transmission you have assuming it has not been rebuilt. If it is in fact a T5 from an 89 Mustang just look up which ATF use…

Not sure on that specific trans but I really liked Red Line MTL (an ATF base) in my TKO-600.
I've used GM Dexron, Royal Purple Synchromax and a few others and will continue using MTL.

Tremec (they purchased the Borg Warner tranny business) recommends Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in the T5 but any ATF is acceptable. They are quite clear on not using gear oil or MTL in a T5.

Synthetic is used in the tremor transmissions made now. The old T-5's used ATF, not synthetic ATF, they have a different type of synchronizers
