I'm learning all I can about how to get the alignment dialed in when the time comes. Ie427 talks about cutting 1/4 off upper control arm Rods and the turn buckle to get castor in spec. Has anyone else done this Not sure if this is what have others done. You know the saying trust but verify. I have a manual steering rack but plan on installing electric steering as several have done so I'm able to get the caster setting needed. Can anyone point me in the right direction or link to get more information.

Lots of discussion on this topic here on the forum. Many folks have found they need to cut the rear adjuster sleeve and threaded bolts they connect to, to achieve additional camber that is possible with power steering. Some have found they don't need to cut them to get the alignment specs they desire with power steering. I cut mine as a matter of procedure, because it took 10 minutes before I installed my upper control arms.

Really no downside to trimming it. If you do and don't need it, no biggie. The other way has you taking your suspension apart at the end.

I recently found out that this should be done but my suspension is already completed so I guess I'll take it apart while it's much easier to get to rather than wait until everything else is in the way. I'm still waiting for my engine to arrive so it will give me so time to get it done. Thanks Greg, blitzboy

Did you cut both sides off of the sleeve and both threaded bolts?

Yes, I cut about 1/8" off the end of both rear sleeves, and the same amount out of each threaded post it threads onto:

Do you think this will apply to the mk5 also?

I'm guessing yes but no way to know until you get it. Just set it up per the instructions and see how much adjustment is there. It could very well be the same parts anchored the same way. But could be totally different. One of the Beta builders would have to chime in.

OK just verifying that sounds very simple that's tomorrow's task.
Thanks again for your help

If you have power steering, yes, you'll need to cut the Rear (closest to the rear of the car) turn buckles. I cut approx 3/16" off both ends of each side. Screw the ends into the turn buckle and you'll probably find that you'll need to trim the threaded ends too.
NOTE: As you install, make sure both ends bottom out at the same time, to achieve maximum adjustment.
