Hey Guys,
Watch out for the filler cap that comes with the kit. I'm going to install my
filler on the outside. I was working the kit's cap and it came apart in m hands!
The tube part came away from the mounting flange. This would not be a fun event if filling the tank from inside the trunk or outside the trunk for that matter. It looks like the two pieces were bonded together inadequately. I will not be using the kit's filler cap! I purchased a one piece chrome cap that looks great and also locks.

Yikes....I will have to check mine now. Thanks for posting the picture. Have you contacted anyone at FFR about this?

Just curious, did you have the filler painted or powdercoated?

Hi Olli,
I called FFR but haven't got a call back yet. I'll try again this a.m
I didn't do anything to the cap except take it out of the it's wrapping.
I wouldn't recommend using the cap at all. Who knows how long the
adhesive holding the two parts together is going to last? That would
always be in the back of my mind. I went with a one piece stainless
steel cap from the Hot Rod Company.

That's interesting, I don't have mine handy, but don't recall it being two pieces. My chassis is #78 so I'm wondering if the desing changed at some point.

Guys,
I just talked with Rick at FFR and they have known about the problem with the
filler and have switched suppliers. Arrowhead, you may be OK as the caps were fine
for some time and then they started separating.

I have HR 186 and my filler cap came apart like yours out of the box. The sealant that held the two parts together was barely noticable. I went to an auto parts house and purchased JC Weld two part epoxy for metal and applied it to the filler parts and it has held up well.

Yep mine came apart too at first fillup. I glued it back with liquid nails and it's been fine since. Also had a problem with the seal loosening and gas leakage down the trunk lid. Fortunately it's not painted yet! Turned out the lock nut loosened and caused the leakage. Responded well to simple tightening, but I will continue to monitor the seal.
