Junk Yard Wheel/Tire Combo Question

I am a day away (and one trip to Lowe’s) from having my front + rear suspension & brakes done (MKV + wilwood big brakes) and I am still shopping for my “forever wheels / tires” ….I will be going with FFR 18” recommended specs there. My question is, if I were to go to the local junkyard to look for some beater wheels/tires to get me through the build phase what should my search criteria be? My assumption is at least 17”, recent year Ford 5 bolt pattern….but after that I am at the limits of my current knowledge. Any advice would be appreciated.

Any 17" wheel that fits a 1994-2004 Mustang will work.

As said, 1994 -2004 Mustang wheels will work. Facebook market place and Craigslist have always worked for me. You just need tires that will hold air.

Thank you both. Steve, just as a geographical FYI (if there is such a thing) as a kid I grew up in Crowley …. which I believe is not all that far away from where you are.

If you check out Blitzboys roadster build you will see that he has temp wheels on his car. They were my daily driver wheels off of my 2011 challenger. Same bolt pattern.

I found a set of on FB Marketplace from a local teenager who was upgrading his Mustang wheels. I then used the old tires from my daughter's Mazda.

The 1994-2004 limit due is to the offset right, not the 5x114.3 bolt pattern?
Like I have a 2018 IRS with donor hubs, the bolt pattern lines up, the hubs should be a non issue also for offset on the FFR wheels?? But on donor wheels I have to stay below 2004?

Yes, but with the 2015 up IRS they’ll need to be 17” or larger unless you downsized the brakes.

i picked up spare tires from the junk yard. most of the spares are in pretty shape for 20 bucks each.
