Hi All,
So after some trimming of the trunk area aluminum, my kids and I fitted the body to our MkIV roadster and the fit is pretty darn good. We will need some fine tuning, but due to the expert advice, tips and tricks from many on the forum, we are in pretty good shape!
Speaking of shape, there seems to be so much rear fender so that, I more than any of us, noticed that the rear wheels don't seem to "fill" the rear wheel wells like the fronts do; the rear wheels seem like they could use about an inch more backspacing/offset outward, so that the tires are closer to the edge of the fender flares. We have the FFR 17" Hillebrand wheels (9" fronts and 10.5" rears), with MT Street Comp 245/45 up front and 315/35 in the rear. The front suspension is the FFR complete kit supplied parts, and the rear suspension is the FFR supplied parts for IRS. My boys said it looked fine to them, and after spending about an hour looking at POM submissions of finished Roadsters last night, I started thinking, "Maybe its just me?"
So is it just me, or do the rear wheels sit slightly inboard compared to the body?
Thanks for your thoughts!
Jason

They do sit slightly inboard compared to the body.

I have 315s on the rear and they sit inside a bit. In go cart mode they looked massive but the body swallowed them up

I'm running the same FFR 17" Halibrand wheels (9" fronts and 10.5" rears), with MT Street Comp 245/45 up front and 315/35 in the rear with IRS on my MK4. I also noticed they were inset just a smidge and installed 3/8" spacers to bring them to the fender lip. They were "ok" before, but are Better now.

What spacers did you use?

The 15" tires have a larger sidewall and you won't see that effect with them.

I used Eibach spacers on my MkII.

Since I already had long wheel studs I knocked out the studs in the spacer. I installed the spacer w/ the large holes over the studs and used the short nuts provided to make the spacer a semi-permanent part of the car.

I figured it would spark a bit of conversation! For now I'm going to keep things as they are, since I'm in bodywork (body on, body off, door on, door off, sand, set gaps, repeat...). Thanks guys for the spacer info. Maybe I'll add spacers after paint if it still looks funny to me.
