View Full Version : TKO 600 yoke seal failure

I have have had 2 yoke seals fail on my TKO transmission in just under 10,000 miles. This sucks. I made a nice driver to put in the last seal. It went in nice and square with no damage. I suspect the finish on the FFR supplied yoke may be poor and causing the issue, however I am no expert on these. I would have expected it to have a reasonably polished finish, say like a cam lobe, but it is not. The finish is more like it was done with a cylindrical grinder, but average.

Questions:
- Could I improve it by sanding with wet and dry?
- send it to a drive shaft shop?
- Is it okay and something else is causing the problem?

Any ideas, or educated opinions.

Using synthetic ATF.

Cheers,

Nige

Yes you could polish the yoke with some 600 wet or dry

Check your pinion angle also...

If you feel and vibration, especially on picking up or lifting off the throttle, that would be pinion angle.

Pinion angle is spot on at 0.5 - 1.0 degree in either axis and does not vary, due to IRS. Yoke float is approx 3/4 inch. No vibration at any speed, including 240 kmh on dyno.

Check your vent tube.
