We had the Mk5 Roadster prototype car in the tube steel cutting area by R&D that was revealed last month along with the chassis and Ron Everitt's build. We took some videos and photos while they were back there, and put together a quick 45 second spot.

We're very anxious for the driving season to get here so we can take the Mk5 Roadster out along with the Type 65 Coupe, Hot Rod, Hot Rod Truck, and the XTF (click here to watch Nate having some fun in the snow (https://www.facebook.com/reel/1444562853470674)), and will post more videos of that too.

Learn more about the Mk5 Roadster on our website here. (https://www.factoryfive.com/roadster/mk5/)

Are those speaker cutouts in the front/side trans panels? Super interested to see how that turns out.

Super cool. I’m coming up to factory next Monday to hopefully put an order in. Looks spectacular and checks all the boxes for me for sure. Thanks for the new release.

Those are speaker cutouts that’s my rolling chassis. 😊

That engine cover is unique... is that something that's available for retail somewhere?

Did you move the battery location to the engine compartment in the Mk5? I noticed it up there in Eric Treves videos, but not sure if that is the factory location now.
Mine is scheduled for a production date of March 15. Let the fun begin.

Yes, that is now the standard location however us Beta builders discovered that if you have the new remote power brake booster it will be virtually impossible to R&R a standard battery without pulling the booster. Options are to cut out/modify a tube so that the battery can be removed from below or use a small gel battery like are common in ATVs and which can be installed from below without removing any frame members. I'm still awaiting my booster and haven't yet decided which way I'll go.

Is it not possible to relocate it back to the trunk like before or does the new frame and trunk make that more difficult of a challenge ?
I'm planning on Gen4 Coyote rather than a SBF at the moment.

Total newbie response….I am currently wrenching away on my MKV kit and have fit/drilled all the aluminum, my steering + front suspension are done and tomorrow I attempt to powder coat the panels and smaller parts….there is a standard drop trunk which is rather sweet. That is to say that there is ample room in the trunk for a battery, it would just be at a compromise for the newly afforded trunk space. Again, it’s my first build so I do not have any basis for comparison, but that is my observation.

Aside from giving up the trunk space there is no reason that it can't go at the front of the upper floor between the roll bar stubs (you wouldn't put it in the box that Tango mentioned).

Jeff, If you need a small lightweight battery what about something like a Shorai battery ?

I've had one in my GSXR600 track/racebike for 6-7l years without any issue. super lightweight and able to be mounted about anywhere except upside down.
The one I have weighs like a pound compared to something like 8 pounds for a normal battery.
I put a charge lead on it so I don't have to pull my seat bodywork.
I use an Optimate battery charger but rarely have to charge it.
If they make one with enough juice that might be an option although they aren't cheap.
The initial cost was high but with the time its lasted I figured it has been a wash cost wise.
They don't like cold weather too much but these aren't exactly winter vehicles.
A 30-60 second key on will warm the battery enough to start easily if its below freezing.
