Hey folks,
I’m installing the Specialty Power Windows wiper kit and wondering what the sweet spot is for the wiper sweep setting. I don’t have my windshield mounted at the moment so it’s hard to estimate.

I’m currently at 120 degrees and it seems ok. Obviously I’d like to set it once and be done given the difficulty of accessing the motor.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Tim

I have used the SPW Kit. I think you're going to want at least 130° with a 10" blade. If the motor box is that difficult to get to but you can still reach it, you could drill and tap for a grease zerk Because at some point you'll want to grease everything in there again.

My Coupe build with the SPW wipers and 15" blades has the sweep set for 110 degrees. They park right along the bottom edge and do a decent job of covering the windshield. The end of the wiper on the driver side goes right to the edge. With this length blades, a larger sweep would be too much. I had mine apart multiple times finding this setting. Not fun but done now. Across four seasons, they've had a couple minor uses and one more significant one. They work. Off topic, but the Cole Hersee 75600-04 that also has an intermittent setting is great with this setup.

Ah, of course I forgot the Coupe windscreen is different from the Cobra.

Thanks guys!

I'll probably drill, tap and install the zerk fitting when I have it back out. Right now everything is still "dry" while I'm fitting everything. The Cole Hersee switch is now on order too.

Can't hurt. But pack it full of grease, including the cables, and unless you're driving multiple days in rain over several seasons, can't imagine it's necessary.

What length Arms are you guys using?

What length Arms are you guys using?

My Coupe from five years ago has these parts and they work well: (2) ANCO Adjustable Wiper Arms 44-01, (2) ANCO 52-Series Clear-Flex Wiper Blades 5215. I've supplied this information to other builders and apparently one or both aren't easily found. If still the case, at least maybe gives a clue what worked.

Thanks Paul. I used your recommendation on the Blades, but want the Old School chrome, or brushed look on the arms. Do you happen to remember what length you pinned them at? Knowing that number, and that they need to be a 1/2 drum, I should be able to find something. I Ballparked the length that looks about right at 13" but would like to confirm.

Just measured mine. Center to center: RH side 10-3/4". Any longer and goes off the edge on the corner. LH side 11". Could be slightly less (e.g. same as RH) but 11" gives the best coverage on the driver side.
