OK to cut off this tab?

Any concerns with cutting off this tab at the rear PS gas tank mount? I see that it's welded between the vertical tubes so my plan is to leave enough of the tab and weld material to stay intact, but get it down far enough to cover over it.

Cut it off flush. Its for a later model fuel tank strap.
