Forum team, I’m moving on from rolling chassis and GoCart to first body fitment. I want to trim back the dash “roll” lip and “roll” at the rear bulkhead on the body cockpit. I see forum folks refer to a “DA Sander” which I’m not familiar with—I love tools, and buying more tools, but just don’t know what I need here. Google shows a variety ranging from simple palm orbital rotary sanders to dual action (DA?) grinder/sanders with both circular and orbital rotations. What about a tool like this?

On the FFR build videos for trimming they use a 90 degree 3” air grinder with a 36 grit pad. Seems this might also be a good tool for this task and other light trimming required for fitment?

I only want to fit the body for proper position and functionality, only trimming enough for doors, hoods, and trunk to close properly. Then after a thousand or so miles the paint/body master can do the rest and I haven’t done too much. Other tools I need?

Send me shopping :)

You have air, right? Unless you just want to spend more money pick up one of these at Harbor Freight:

It'll do everything you need. I get at least 2 years out of 'em and they get worked like a borrowed mule! While there pick up a pack of 80 grit discs for it (36 or 40 will get you into trouble if you aren't careful ;))
