Off on an adventure

Posting here to let you guys know I am off on a new adventure, Desided to check one off the bucket list and visit the tarracotta warriors in China. I will be gone for 3 so if you need anything go ahead and e mail me, I plan to keep in touch and will take care of orders when I return.

Enjoy Russ! I too have always wanted to see the terracotta Warriors, but the closest I have gotten is a "replica" in the theme park Splendid China in Florida. :(

It is seriously cool. When a Chinese Emperor died, he was laid to rest, and within his burial area, he was buried along with many, many "warriors" to protect the emperor in the afterlife; complete with the myriad "weapons" of the era, and were painted colorfully in appropriate "war paint" (although clearly worn after centuries in the earth). These warriors were life sized replicas made completely out of terracotta. Some of the unearthed sites contain several hundred such warriors. These sites are much similar in size, reverence, and tradition as the Pyramids. It is extremely fascinating stuff. I'm certain there are others who can provide more detail and a more interesting summary than I, but hopefully you get the idea.
