Has anyone heard any more about whether the remote mount Master Powers power brake booster has been installed and is a viable option on the Mark 5?

https://mpbrakes.com/product/bs1011k-dual-diaphragm-remote-brake-booster/

I am 100% considering it for my Gen 3 Coupe.

Is anyone familiar with it? If so, what do you know about it?

Thanks, Steve

Absolutely it’s a viable Mk5 option. Although I’m awaiting delivery of it for my own Mk5 beta build Ingavecseen it installed on the prototype as well as another beta and it would work for a Coupe as well. Actually the Coupe is probably more “space friendly” due to the forward leaning radiator.

Good to hear Jeff, where did it get mounted?

Behind the radiator, above the battery.

I had considered the same dual booster that you linked to for my project (a widened MGB not a Cobra kit) because I had a wilwood dual master pedal setup with a balance bar and needed separate boosters for each circuit. I considered putting it in the trunk but there were a couple issues putting it there. I didn't want to lose that space in the trunk and the plumbing routing would have been a lot longer. The front brake hydraulic lines would have to go from the master to the trunk and then back again to the front brakes. The vacuum line would have also been longer than I wanted. Besides the plumbing issues the cost of the unit was $400 plus the shipping from the UK. If I ever had a problem with the unit the car would be down for an extended period and I would have to pay shipping both ways.

I finally discovered a single circuit vacuum booster that was only 7" in diameter and was available from a distributor in California on EBay. These were OEM on a couple of vehicles in Australia and have proved to be very reliable. I could buy two of them for $230 (for both) and free shipping. I ended up mounting them under the headlight in front of the tire on each side and it has worked out really well.

Can you elaborate on the install? In the MKV install manual I do not see any mention of hooking it into a vacuum line….but I am assuming that is the part that makes the magic happen. I notice that there are 2 plugged ports on either side of the booster, I had assumed those were for blending, but I am not certain.

That Master Power unit in the link is quite big. FFR has one they are selling that is much more compact, I was told they get it from an outfit in France. They have one installed in the MK5 they have in the show room

That Master Power unit is quite large. As I stated in my last post FFR has one that is much more compact.

The booster that Factory Five is offering appears to be: Iruna Model 6160000. Remote Vacuum Booster, Double Brake Circuit. The parent company is in Spain. They have other locations so maybe not manufactured there. I've done some searching and don't find them readily available. It's an interesting approach to adding power brakes. I'm 99% sure I won't be installing on my Mk5 build. I didn't order it with the kit. Partly a matter of real estate because of the Aluminator and related that are part of my build. But mainly because I'm happy with the same brakes in my Coupe without power assist.

Is it possibly this one? https://irunabrakes.com/products/remote-vacuum-booster/
Convert the numbers to inches and it's about the same as the one I posted earlier.

Thanks Jeff for clearing that up. I can see now the number I was able to see by zooming into several pictures was the batch number.

It can go anywhere you can find space to fit it then it will just be a matter of making up new brake lines. Show us what you come up with!

I wonder if you could mount it forward of the sheet metal in the radiator area in a Coupe? I have zero space with the Coyote to fit it in the engine compartment per se, but just on the other side of the front cross bar might be an option.

This is what I did today on my '33. Mounted behind the frame under where the gas tank sits.

It fits in the Daytona coupe just behind the cross frame on the engine side, Fits in the same place on a. MKV, with a coyote and a small block. I have done all three.

If still wondering, in post #284 Rick shows where he hooked up his booster vacuum line. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?51417-Rick-s-Mark-V-Roadster-Build/page8
