Quick question for the forum. I have crafted a floor for the driver side that gives me a couple more inches of room for my feet. I am mounting it to the 4” round tube which makes the floor level with the round tube bottom. Any problems with that? It totally makes the foot box work for my size 13 feet.

It looks like you used a heavier gauge of metal? That would be my recommendation as you may have a higher chance of the tire kicking up something. A bit of reinforcement at the front bend would be a good idea, otherwise it should work fine.

Yes, quite a bit thicker. Makes me feel a bit better as well since it is thicker. Regarding the reinforcement, I was thinking the a right angle strip that sits on top of the 2" (?) round tube might work. Will noodle on that. Thanks for the advice.

Or just double up the very front edge. Your feet will never be in that part of the box, so you can just add a little extra without it being in the way.

Perfect, Thanks!

The outside edge looks like it might get in the way of mounting the body. You're image shows it dropping straight down, while the Factory Five piece has a ~45 degree angle.

I did the same on my old MkII. It was a huge help. I kept it about 1/2" above the bottom of the 4" tube. I had scraped the frame tubes across a parking lot rumble strip once so I didn't want to count one being perfectly shaped if I encountered another.
