I bought some replacements, but so long ago I can't remember where! Might be findable on the other forum, maybe even the pre-2002 forum.

Mine were killed by a really cold winter. I found a part number on the side, and simply typed it into the google search box. I found a very short list of sources. One of the sources was surplus company. They had 6 of them, and I bought them all for a really good price.

I have gotten them at both Napa and Autozone in the past.

You can also buy a ton of sizes cheap on ebay. I did this when I made a bed lift for my camper. All you need is the length and lifting strength.

Query the part number on e-Bay. I got my replacements really cheap this way about 6 months ago.

You can use these from McMaster Carr 9416K17 30# They come without the threaded end pieces but you can most likely use your existing ones or get these 9416K86 from them (4).

If you know the length and weight capacity McMaster Carr has anything you can imagine and good prices too. I got a pair for my Mk 4 trunk for $28.00

Nothing wrong with McMaster Carr stuff. NAPA probably buys theirs from the same souces and relabels and marks them up.
I still have the originals that came with my car if you can't find a local source.
