I bought my car partially assembled and the hood was something I was dreading but I am at the point where it cannot be avoided. The previous builder cut the support channel off the underside of the hood on the driver's side.

The rest of the hood does not fit terrible but will need to be finished with some body filler. (Photos below).

My plan for the cut up hood is to create a jig to clamp to the outside of the hood through the scoop opening. The jig will extend beyond the edge of the hood. Then push the driver's side corner near the latch down to a position where I want it and hold it there with the jig.

Then remove the hood and rebuild this support channel in the proper location. I am planning on using some 1/2 inch to build the channel and then fiberglass over that.

I have never done fiberglass work before but it seems pretty straightforward. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Well, there's more to it than that... The hoods are made up of 2 pieces; the inner and the outer which are bonded together around the perimeter. Not only the channel was cut out but also a section of that inner panel is gone. If you rebuild the channel and then attempt to blend the gaping hole in that inner panel by using fiberglass and filler the first time you put it out in the sun on a warm day it will expand differently than the rest of the hood and picture through on the top side.

Solution: call FFR and buy a new hood.

Thanks Jeff. I was focused on the channel above but basically intended to replicate the inner ply of fiberglass with as minimal filler as possible. My theory was that on a hot day the outer layer in the sun would be hotter than the repaired inner layer. This should cause expansion which I think would add more curvature to the hood based on the shape, or force the hood edge down into the body.

Factory five has them and is quoting me the shipping now but would appreciate you sharing further knowledge if you have any.
