Happy Saturday, everyone!

I'm prepping for my 100A 1-wire alternator installation by installing a 150A mega fuse on the firewall. I'm curious if the RF harness alternator wire is sufficient, or if I should upgrade it to a larger gauge. I believe the RF wire is 10 gauge? Thinking I should replace that with 6 gauge from the alternator to the mega fuse, and from the megafuse to the ignition switch. Thoughts?

JMO, get rid of the one wire alternator and install a 3g model. 10 is large enough, 8 would be better, no need for a 6. 1 wire have issues with proving full amps at idle rpm

Why would you run alt output to the ignition switch? I'd rather see it run to the large lug on the starter or to the battery if it is up front.

I have installed many 1-wire 100 amp alternators in various cars and typically use a #10 wire. I have never had any problems.

Sorry...good call. I was quickly reading the RF schematic...it's routed to the starter, not the ignition switch.

I went overkill and used the long FFR provided 4 gauge red battery wire. Since I put the battery up front I had more than enough for both the battery and alternator. Connected mine straight the to starter lug, same as the positive battery cable. Also grounded the starter, engine, and alternator separately to the frame. Plenty of power and current for cranking and charging!

I'm doing the same. I was trying to keep all of my wiring the same size as it comes off of the cutoff switch.

Thanks, guys. I ended up doing what a few of you are doing...using the leftover 4 gauge battery cable. Figured "why not". Here's my install, along with my 150A breaker I forgot I had.

No heater core gives you a lot of extra space on the firewall!
