Such a minor issue, but I cannot get these plugs together.

Has anyone else had this problem? It's like the female side is too big, ever so slightly. I think I'll just cut them off and put a sealed connector in its place.

I hate that style of connector, they are always a problem. When you do get them together, even harder to get apart.

Cut the wires and install Weatherpak connectors.

Connectors on order. Kind of annoying that they cheap out on some of this stuff. IMHO, all connectors should be sealed.

Check the amperage of your fan. Weatherpack connectors are only rated for 20A.

I clipped the fittings and used some good crimp connectors and shrink wrap on mine. Left plenty of wire to cut and wire in new fan if it ever needed to be replaced. It's not really an item you're going to be taking out very often, so I chose to hardwire it in. Also, access is easy from underneath so it's a very simple job.

Good point. I upgraded to a Flex-a-lite fan (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-105390) which pulls 18.5A. It's wired through a Weatherpak connector and no issues so far.

The spec sheet for your specific fan will tell you what the inrush (peak) and average current draw is. My fan is spec’ed to draw less than 15A peak, so I used regular Weatherpak connectors & swapped the 30A fuse for 15A.

Weatherpak does make connectors rated for higher current draws, but you have to look for them.

Last spring I added a SPAL pusher fan to my Stingray. Bought the wiring harness at the same time. Dang, it had exactly the same connector. I ended up trashing the male side plastic, added 2 layers of shrink tube to completely cover each wire connector and plugged them into the female housing. Maybe there is just one dang X*? company that makes these things for every fan manufacturer.

Same issue here! After reading Craig's solution...I am going with that.
