Hi all,

Installing the battery here in Connecticut and wanted to know the specifics on venting - esp with CT inspection.

Do I need to install vent tubes to the outside if the battery is in the trunk?

Thanks in advance, Rich.

I used an Interstate Non-venting AGM MTX-78 so less a concern. Not sure about your battery but some have a small hose connection like my old prius battery to connect to under trunk. Ant

The rule states….
BATTERY - Must be securely mounted and vented to the outside. Batteries located in the
passenger compartment must be sealed and vented to the outside. Plastic battery containers with
a sealed top and vent tube through the floor are acceptable.

They did ask where the battery was when I did my inspection.

If you battery is in the trunk and there is a drain hole in the battery container to the outside , then you have met the requirement. ( but be prepared to add a tube at inspection if it fails).

Vent it through the trunk floor. Probably one of the easiest tasks on these builds.
