Anybody else do this? Anything to be aware of other than the diameter of the fuel tank inlet?

What a weird place to put a fuel filler, eh? If you do manage to fill the tank more than half, the hose is under liquid level. 10% ethanol? When you go to replace that hose, look for ethanol resistant. I think it's 2".
That was one of the first things I did when I got my kit. I taught myself to weld with acetylene and moved the filler to a doghouse on top of the tank. I'm running 85% ethanol and no problems so far.

Mine looks fine after 8 years in service. Boyd tank.

Boyd tank has the filler on the top where it ought to be. I'm guessing that turbo's rotted because it spent a lot of time submerged in fuel that the rubber wasn't up to. A more resistant piece of hose might help.

Yeah, seems like it. I couldn't find anything other than "rubber hose" and "fuel rated hose" so hopefully that means it will cope with the ethanol. Fuel pump seized in the meantime. I swear. One thing after another.

If it ain't one thing, it's something else.
