View Full Version : What's needed to convert from Wilwoods brakes to stock brakes?

My current setup uses 18" halibrand style wheels (FFR) + Wilwoods front & back. I also have a hydroboost installed (I know I know....overkill to have both Wilwood + hydroboost). As I get closer and closer to completing my build, I really feel like I'm making a mistake not putting 15" wheels on this car. I love the look of the huge sidewall. So I'm left wondering if I should swap my Wilwood setup for stock brakes so I can go to 15" wheels. I'd still keep the hydroboost w/ the stock brake setup. No decision has been made yet, right now I'm just researching what it would take.

My question for the group - what exactly would I need to make this happen? I'm not very familiar with the stock brake setup and all the different parts needed.

Contact Mike forte at www.fortesparts.com . He has a wilwood kit that will fit with 15" wheel. I would guess that you would need new wilwood rotors and matching brackets.

I know Gordon Levy Racing also makes a Wilwood kit that fits 15s but I’m not looking to spend that kind of money. With the hydroboost the stock brake setup will be more than adequate. I’m just looking to understand what the parts list needed is for this type of conversion so I can get an idea how much it will cost me.

I have no idea about 15 inch rear brakes for IRS but, the fronts are easy.
You need 2 each of the following for a sn95 base model (V6) Mustang:
Front calliper brackets, callipers and rotors. All available at RockAuto. Probably do the front for $200.
