Hi everyone,

Dumb question but somehow Google doesn't know the answer and I'm also searching this forum for VIN and it tells me "no results."

I'm looking on the various salvage part sites for a gen 3 Coyote pull-out.

The FF manual says the engine model # is M-6007-M50C.

Looking at the salvage websites, it gives me multiple options for the type of engine I want. It's the 5.0L so either #1 or 5 are correct. Which is it? Thanks! ST

5.0L, VIN F (8th digit)
2.3L, VIN D (8th digit)
2.3L, VIN H (8th digit)
5.2L (8th digit, supercharged)
5.0L, VIN 0 (8th digit)

M-6007-M50C is the Ford Performance Parts Gen3 crate engine Coyote which is no longer available

VIN 8th digit F=
2011-2014 Mustang GT or F150 (Gen 1 Coyote)
2015-2017 Mustang GT or F150 (Gen 2 Coyote)
2018-2023 Mustang GT (Gen 3 Coyote)

VIN 8th digit 0=
2019-2023 Mustang Bullitt or Mach 1

You'd need the rest of the VIN to determine the model year and which vehicle it was from. Note that the Mustang Coyote is different than the F150 Coyote (cams, pistons, etc.)

Opinion/recommendation: go for a Mustang engine, and make certain that you get a controls pack that goes with that engine. I do not believe an F-150 control pack will work with a Mustang engine. (different firing order for one thing)

For the Gen2 Coyote you are absolutely correct. Different firing orders.
However, on the Gen1, and possibly the Gen3 (uncertain), the Mustang and the F150 have the same firing order. Thus, the control pack “should” work for both. Note that the timing covers are different. If you use a F150 engine you will need to swap out the covers. Horsepower and torque numbers are a bit different between the two but a truck engine is a viable option.
