Congratulations. Your build sounds a lot like mine. Build thread link in my sig line just in case you haven't seen it. Having had the FFR heat/A-C in my Coupe, which is "OK" but could be better, I opted for a Vintage Air system in my truck build. A significant improvement. Both in cooling capacity plus the ducts are controlled. There's plenty of room for it, unlike the Coupe. Maybe it's too late if you've already received the FFR system. But throwing it out there. Good luck with your build.

Got though the review of all the boxes in one long day.

Only a couple of small things missing and I know they will be taken care of. POL list is not long either.


New inventory system has nice labels and reports
Boxes are well packed as usual!
Emergency Brake has been redesigned but manual has not been updated yet.



Getting the boxes organized and consolidated. Some now on the upper shelves as well.

I completed my frame dolly (ground down some welds, put vinyl around support points).

I decided to prepare the bottom panels as one of the first things. This make drilling a lot easier. There is not that will go through these areas anyway, so doing it first has no issues.

I wanted to install the floor while i could still flip the chassis over pretty easily. This frame is bigger and heavier than the Hot Rod, so the hoist came in handy.

It's been a few years since I did the front suspension on the Hot Rod, so I needed to double check all of the steps in the process.
Put the rubber pieces into the suspension parts and then slide in the lubricated steel core.
On the rear shock note you can move the clip up so you have more adjustment to raise the rear ride height.

I trimmed and touched up the frame to clear the rack in the lower position 207318

The top spacers needed to be slimmed down a bit because of the powder coating.207319

Added the Steering stuff and it's good for now. Lower ball joint kit is POL.207321

Next up is some assembly of the brakes (Wilwood) and planning for power brakes.

The Rear Lower Control arms were on my POL list and arrived yesterday. They included a design change to include a larger front rod end. It looks good and fit as expected. A little persuasion is always needed to get the ends into position. Also, you may need to scrape out the holes where the powder coating makes the bolt fit a bit tight.

I also had to drill out the hole in the Moser rear end bracket for the panhard rod to connect.

Here you can see the new Rod End spacers and the 3/8 stainless spacers. 2 were in my kit so I used some leftover tube to create a couple more spacers for the other side.

The shocks needed only fit a single .32 spacer to fit them into the arm. I think a couple of .16 spacers would be better. 207519

I ended up using both spacers on each shock. Just took a little time to grind them down on the bench grinder. Used needle nose Locking pliers to hold and easily removed enough material to space the shock evenly in the control arm.

I did the same for the top shock mount as well.

Yup, I have ground down quite a few of these as well. Also, sometimes you can spread the mount a bit. In this case it’s a bigger difference - I think I need a total of about .4 instead of .64 from 2 spacers. Just looking for some other folks experience with the new tube based arms.

Got the rear suspension spacers made up (.21" for each) and installed so shocks are in place.
Front Wilwoods are safety wired and installed.

Rear Brakes were a bit more challenging as the clearance between the caliper mounting bracket and the rotor is really tight.
I used the "B" option to count the adapter plate between the rear end (Moser from Factory Five) and the Caliper adapter. I have 4 washers stacked there right now

That gives me .025" clearance between the rotor and bracket.

The right side has a bit more clearance (.063").

I have the same setup, Moser Rear end and the Wilwood brakes.

I even tried the bracket both ways (Step on the inside v. step on the outside) This was the only way to make it work.

Good to confirm. My Hot Rod has the same brakes and only needed 2 washers and I think has a little more clearance.

This project is awaiting the finish of my Camaro resto-mod project for a friend.

Blueprint package

- ZF 8HP70 transmission

I'm going to be a guinea pig for the ZF transmission, but I have this transmission in other cars and it is really impressive.

Blueprint includes the electronic shifter and controller.

Will continue with details as I learn more.

The LS is essentially the same as you see in all of the other builds. Heater tubes still point at the frame!
The 8HP fits with very minor trimming around the frame transmission mounting area.

I will add pictures of the cooler lines once I get the parts. The cooler fittings will be very close to the transmission tunnel, but everything else will fit OK.

There are a lot of additional considerations that I'm just starting to explore.
- Electronic shifter (BMW style) is included.
- ECU and TCU Tuning is intended to be used as provided by BluePrint. ZF did the transmission programming.
- Driveshaft TBD
- Gauges and other data sources TBD

I got the Moser option with the 3.55 gears.
The BluePrint solution is as close to a turnkey as you are going to get with this transmission. There are several build your own options, but it will get complicated quick.

The ZF fits with minor trimming around the mount.
The centerline of the Yoke is several inches ahead of locations for other transmissions (4LE, TREMEC).
I'm prototyping a shifter mount and will be willing to provide to others if interested. Working on adjustability and fit right now.
Transmission Mount
FFR supports Ford mounts, but the ZF is set up with GM Spacing. So I got a TH400 style mount and drilled some holes.

227964 This results in about 3/8 clearance between the yoke and the floor.
Shifter Mount
227963 The Shifter boot has clips about 80mm above the base of the shifter. So, a housing or center console will probably be needed.
Oil Cooler Fitting
227965 227966 This is a great fitting from Domiworks to provide maximum clearance to the tunnel. I'm hoping to be able to get a bit more foot room by using this fitting. Number 22001007 - Jag/Land Rover variation.

Next up is the driveshaft.

Your third picture of the trans mount in the chassis. I flipped the FFR mount pad/bracket thinky so that it raised the tail without a big spacer and also made the bolts accessible from underneath.
