I purchased the Breeze Dead Pedal for my driver footbox. Went to install it tonight and after looking at where it goes, I think I'm better off without it. I'm 6'2" tall and having the extra room left of the clutch to stretch my left leg out more seems better. I know I can install it later if I decide to add, but MUCH easier to do now before riveting on the outside panel.

Any of you taller builders have any insight?? Install, or leave it out?

I’m 6’2” and I’m leaving it out. Granted, it’s only theoretical for me yet as I’m still building so take it for what it is. It might be different when carpet and everything is in place but I feel I can rest my foot on the tubular brace instead.

I am not familiar with the installation of the Breeze dead pedal…but if it can be installed with rivnuts as opposed to rivets you may get the best of both worlds - you can fasten it in place and if it isn’t to your liking, it can be unscrewed.

I'm 6'0" with long arms and legs, and I have the Breeze dead pedal installed. I set it so that it's flush with the clutch pedal. I like being able to rest my foot on it, and then instantly slide it over onto the clutch pedal when needed, rather than having my foot tucked behind the clutch pedal and then having to wrangle it out when needed.

I'm the same height as John, and I'll admit to using his 'don't do this' position more than I do the dead pedal. My home built dead pedal is as far forward as I could put it (built into outside frame members), but when there's no one around and I'm settled in for a long cruise, my left foot just ends up stretched out under the clutch.

Drive it around in go kart for a while and see if you need one.

I wouldn't say that it's a "don't do this" position. Even with the dead pedal installed, on long highway rides I can still slip my left foot behind the dead pedal and clutch and stretch it out if needed. But with size 13 shoes, that position creates the possibility for my foot getting hung up momentarily if I need to get to the clutch quickly. Having the dead pedal next to the clutch allows me to brace with my left foot during spirited driving in a spot where I can instantly access the clutch.

I'm 6'2" as well and purchased one and never installed it. you're going to want the extra room to stretch out your leg like you described.

Agreed - I should have clarified it does get used when in traffic, changing speeds ... as you suggest. I spent time doing my custom dead pedal and have no regrets. Plus, it was a nice base for my brights stomp switch, which was a must-do for me.

I also purchased one and was planning to install, but after trying different positions I found that my foot likes to rest on the tube frame on the left side of the footbox. I'm 6' with long legs and the existing tube is a natural resting place for my foot so I decided I didn't need anything different.

I can't imagine not having a dead pedal... I have < 700 miles on my car and I use it anytime I'm on a longer drive (highway, etc)

I'm 6'2" and bought a Willwood style brake/clutch peddle from breeze to use as a dead peddle. My problem was that I installed a "traditional" foot operated dimmer switch mounted just forward of the left down tube, mounted on the side panel. That would have been the location of the dead peddle. There really is no other location for it, so I'll be doing without one.

Matter of personal choice. Mine is level with the clutch pedal.
