Hey all,

I ordered the base kit, and I'm now sourcing some required parts. Any recommendations on which power steering rack to go with? I'd prefer to stay with all new parts. I know I'll probably need the rack extenders (my brain says I think I received them in my kit.... can't remember for sure though)

Also any help on the mounting bushings (I recall Breeze had some improved ones, but don't see anything on their site) and the tie rod ends. I remember that Paul (edwardb) recommended a part that didn't require cutting the inner tie rod?

All help greatly appreciated!

Rian

Fox mustang rack will do. 1010107 is the part number I think. Not sure how I remember that.

I used the BBB reman for current coupe build. I used energy suspension bushings PN 4.10103

Also used MOOG ES2150RL tie rod ends and MOOG EV117 tie rods. You can get the bump steer offset extenders from FFR (they came with my kit).

Bump steer was resolved years ago, anything after the Mrk3 using the sn95 spindle was not an issue.

The best Mustang rack is a 2000 Cobra R "VT" rack. Good luck finding one. As you can imagine, they are extremely rare. The next best thing is the 1999-2004 Cobra "ZM" rack. These are very sought after in the Mustang community and can be expensive if you can find one. The most reasonably priced rack with decent feel is the 1999-2001 "SJ" rack or the 2002-2004 "ZK" rack. These came in the GT model Mustangs. The problem with buying a re-manufactured rack is you don't know what torsion bar or valve the rebuilder used. Even though you may find a "SJ", "ZM", or whatever the rebuilder may have used a torsion bar and valve for the standard V6 model because they do not know any better... all they know is physically the rack will bolt in the car.

"Turn One Steering" can rebuild any 1989 - 2004 Mustang rack to the Cobra R specifications. I don't know what it costs now for them to do it, but I do recall it being very expensive. When I was building my road race Mustang I checked in to it and decided it was not that important...

I would stay away from the Fox racks. While they will definitely work, the assist, IMO, is too high and it makes the steering feel very light...
