My friend has an early version of the FFR Roadster and wants to upgrade his suspension. He has the original Koni's. Anyone have any suggestions on what shocks? Springs? or other tips or tricks?

What year or mk? Fyi, 'early' version was not koni.
What type of rear suspension? 3-link, 4-link, IRS?
Is there anything specific that he's trying to fix?
Is he looking for better handling? better ride?
need more, more, more info...

The car is 6 to 8 years old and he says it's a MK 4
Looking for better handling but better ride more than anything. He has the F5 stuff that came with the kit.
it's either a 3 link or 4 link, not sure. definitely not IRS

First verify tire pressure is no more than 22#. If so drop them to 22# and test drive. Second, verify that the bottom of the main 4"frame tubes at their back (look under the car just ahead of the rear tires to see the welded capped tube ends) are 4.5" above the floor. I just want to verify the car hasn't been excessively lowered so the shocks are bottoming out over large bumps. BTW a common rec is 4" front and 4.5" rear. Now I am going a bit out on a limb here and thinking that the rear springs are 350# rated as that is what MkIVs w/ red Konis typically came with. You can confirm this as it should be printed in white somewhere around the outside of the spring. My personal opinion is that was on the firm side and the rear has much more effect on ride comfort than the front. If so I go to 250-275# springs of the same length.
