Beware recent rash of scammers

I've been contacted by a handful of people, both via DMs or via email, offering to sell me parts that I have listed in the Wanted To Buy forum - specifically the Rod Tops soft top for the '33 Hot Rod. The users on the forum "vcat" and "Ronnie208". They both referred me to email someone, " jtxpolt@outlook.com" and "oaky160@gmail.com", respectively. And the former then asked me to contact them via text at (415)320-6801. Which is a completely different area code than I'm being told they are shipping from. I've been contacted directly by email from two others, but I haven't vetted them yet, so I'm not posting the addresses here.

Just beware. Here on the forums we tend to trust each other as enthusiasts and forget that there are still bad actors finding their way in.

I won't transact with anyone here unless they have hundreds of posts, literally. That approach weeds out essentially all deviants.

vcat has been banned for some time. Did he contact you via email? I don't see how he could have contacted you via DM.

I banned Ronnie208. 5 posts, all the same day, very generic posts. If you get a chance, forward to me what they sent you.

I try to vet pretty hard when dealing with transactions here. I usually need them to have lots of posts, lengthy PM's back and forth and usually some text messages. I have also reported some users to David, I believe vcat was one of them. I have also offended a legit user once(sorry for that) when contacted through a parts wanted ad, but hey there are a lot of dirtbags out there and pretty sure most people would understand a buyer being extra careful!
