EFI stacks

Looking for some advice on finding and choosing a reliable, modestly priced EFI induction stack system for my gen ll roadster with a stock 1990 EFI 302. I’m looking to do away with that big ol’ ugly upper manifold and give it a more vintage look but still have fuel injection. I’m also considering the EFI carbs then but I really love those stacks. Thanks for any advice.

When speaking of stack EFI systems "reliable" and "moderately priced" are mutually exclusive.

I've been running stack EFI for over 30 years, was an early adopter when TWM came out with their Weber-style throttle bodies. This is my current setup.

For the stacks, Borla is the only company to consider. Borla bought TWM so their systems are rooted in the original designs. The Borla stacks are truly works of art.

Avoid Speedmaster or other cheap copies unless you want lots of issues starting with vacuum leaks which are killer on a stack system.

For ECU go with either a Fast Sportsman or Holley Terminator. Do not, repeat do not, run a Fast EZ self-tuning system, it just does not work.

Be careful with cam selection.

You can buy direct from Borla but their after-sales service and support is minimal. Plus they will try and sell you an EZ controller.

Ingelese is the guy you want to deal with. He will sell you a Borla system with Holley Terminator ECU and it will be very close to plug & play when you receive it.

Mike I agree with everything you said, with the exception of Borla's recommendation of the EZ system. When I was fighting to get mine running correct, they told me the EZ was likely the problem. That was a few years ago, maybe someone new is making different recommendations? I talked with them and explained what I did to get mine running correct, switch to the Sportsman system.
To the OP, never going to find a 'moderately priced' setup. You want to play, you got to pay. Just set down when you price it

When I bought my system from Borla Patrick told me to buy the EZ ECU so I did. Then I met a guy that at the time was a field tech man for Comp/Fast and had me trade in the EZ for the Sportsman. And Speedmaster supply the EZ with their POS stack systems. My friend told me stories of how much time he wasted servicing EZ systems on stacks. Like you I've been happy with my Sportsman ECU.

I have to admit I got a chuckle out of "moderately priced" stack EFI. They do exist (Speedmaster) but you get what you pay for.

I will second the recommendation to give Jim Inglese a call. He will set you up with everything you need to have a reliable, good looking stack EFI. It won't be cheap, but it will work. I would also budget another $800 - $1,000 for a professional tuning session. My car ran with minimal effort out of the box, but really perked up with a tune.

Thank you. Yes, I run a BBR filter on each horn.
