I am putting order together with Mike Forte. It will be a Gen 4 Coyote. He quoted using the Ford 10R80 automatic transmission. I see many using Tremec on the site. Any insite or recommendation greatly apprecated.

Sorry. Can't figure out how to delete this duplicate post. Second created when correcting type in subject line...

The question is whether you want an automatic or manual transmission. Answer that and it becomes obvious.

I was told by Dan Golub, (Factory Five Tech) the Ford 10R80 automatic transmission would not fit in the trans tunnel without modification and the loss of footbox space. I opted for an AOD with my SBF. I just didn't want to get into that.

I plan to go automatic so I now realize Tremec is not an option. Do you have a particular automatic you would recommend for the Coyote in the 35 pickup? Someone on another post said the 10R80 requires modification to the trans tunnel and loss of space. Not ideal.

I just spoke with Dan at FFR and he said the 10R80 and the 6R80 would both require modification. They recommend the 4R70W. Does anyone have experience with this transmission in the pickup? Thanks

The 4R70W is a revised version of the AOD-E Transmission was released in 1993 with the Lincoln Mark VIII. Unlike the AOD-E, Reverse, 1st, and 2nd gear ratios in the 4R70-W are numerically higher, giving the transmission a better mechanical advantage and, in turn, better take-off acceleration, better passing acceleration.
I had an AOD built for my 35 Hot Rod Truck. Very straight forward installation. Setting the Throttle Valve pressure was not difficult. Just buy a $35.00 pressure kit and you can be done in just a few minutes.

The entire unit went in easy. You do need to decide the shifter linkage u you will use, as the TV cable will need to be attached according to your shifter (Cable vs. Linkage) All in all it was easy.

Thanks for the insite. I just ordered a 347 and AOD from Blueprint Engines.

These two videos are great for explaining the Shifter arm/TV lever relationship.

The Lokar TV Cable kit was awesome. $129 at Speedway, expensive but worth the price when it comes to ease.
