I’d like to replace the Kumho Ecsta tires on my car with something that is close to the same traction. The tread wear on them is 180. My size is 245/45/R17 for the front and 315/35/R17. What is a good choice and where can I get them?

I did an upgraded to my wheel and tire combo this past March.
I'm now running Nitto NT-05 and am very happy with them.
Discount Tire or Tire Rack will make the shopping easy.
Also, consider up-sizing your fronts to 255/40-17's.
The 555's I could spin in 1, 2, 3 & a little in 4.
The NT-05's stick very well in every gear.
They corner and stop very well too.

I really like my Mickey Thompson street comp tires. Still has grip even in cold mornings. I got mine at Mccormack racing in MI. But I beleive they do the online order thing.

I've got 6500 miles on my Nitto 555's, same size you are asking about. They seem to be working fine for street driving. Considered to be a more harder compound tire. Probably the reason they are wearing good and don't throw up a bunch of rocks/pebbles.

Look through the 200TW autocross tires from Tire Rack and read their track tests + owner reviews. Also look at Grassroots Motorsports mag for their tire tests.

I've used simpletire.com for several sets of tires. Great prices and depending on your location they have mobile installers who will come to you for the same price as going to a shop.

I think most any tire with 200 treadwear rating would fit the bill. The tires on my short list for performance driving are Toyo Proxes R888R, Falken Azeni 615K+ and RT660.
