I used the now-discontinued fiberglass coupe seats on my first MK2 build several years ago. For the current MK4 build I decided to just go with the stock vinyl "Cobra" seats that come with the kit. I installed them with Breeze's mounting kit, which raises the front about 1.5".

After a couple of ten mile excursions, I realized that they are just not my cup of tea. My left arm is hard against the door, my legs are all scrunched up, the steering wheel is in my chest, and I feel like I'm sitting way too high.

I found and ordered a set of these, figuring I could push them back and to the right to give me some leg and elbow room.

They arrived and look great, but they don't fit. The flat back, which would have been great, hits that diagonal brace near the door latch, so I end up with the same too-close-to-the-steering-wheel issue i had with the stock seats.

I ended up going with a set of old coupe seats that were on the shelf. They are a little narrow for me now, but I'm determined to lose 25 pounds anyway, so i should drop right into them by spring. It took me about 4 hours today to do the swap on the left side, and I'll probably do the right tomorrow night. I turned the Breeze mounts around to raise the rear and ended up with a ton of room to the left, and a better position for my arms and legs.

I'm about ready to go all-in and install a bench seat.

Hey, this is Robert from Rottenleonard's Jalopy Shop, I made the seats you bought, Sorry to hear that they did not work, However we are working on a new seat design that uses a dimensionally identicle lower seat pad, with the exception that the rear corners are rounded off, It has a full aluminum seat back that has been stiffened with bead rolling and dimpled holes, Looks very cool! It will be a few weeks yet before we have any ready(if things go right) Check my website for them once they are up let me know and we can do an exchange or something I'd hate for you to be stuck with seats that don't work.
I'll try to post some pictures of a prototype this week so you can see if it looks like it will work.
Thanks Robert

I really like the utilitarian look of those seats! Race car cool. A little side bolster padding wouldn't be such a bad idea though..just saying..:)

Robert, the seats are exactly what I expected and would look great in the car. I just neglected to consider the space that a small chassis component takes in the cockpit. I can snap a picture of the seat in the car so you can see what I mean. Maybe we can work some kind of a swap later if you want. Thanks very much for your interest.
