View Full Version : rear discs
Ok I pulled the trigger and ordered yesterday now need to make figure out which disc setup. Which setup do you have and what wheel size. I ordered the 15" wheels but can change them to 17" if needed just like the look of the 15". Pictures would be nice
Thank you Bob

If you absolutely have to have 15s to make your car look right to you go for them. Otherwise change to 17s so you have tons of wheel options and same w/ brakes.
As of now I went with the 15" FFR Halibrant wheels I'm one that likes the period look, but may be willing to go with the 17" wheels.

I have 17" wheels. My brakes are stock from a 2001 GT donor (11" front and 10 1/2" rear). There are some photos on my build site. See my signature for a link.

I built my Mk4 with the 17" Halibrands. They do look better. I also ordered FFR Rear Brake set. It did fit fine and does the job of huge dollar aftermarket upgrades (once wheels lock they are locked right? But you do have to slide out the axles to put on the caliper brackets. I see Summit Racing offers a similar set-up at about the same price, that has "C" shaped caliper brackets that slip over the axles and do not require axle removals.

You can get great braking and still use 15" rims. If NASCAR can do it, so can you. Get the right pads and correct line pressure.
