Anyone use the gator grip or similar undercoat product on the inner fenders (fiberglass areas) and under the nose cone to dampen rock impacts and clean up the look?
The chap that built my car left it all exposed in gel coat so I am hoping to clean it up.

I realize there are plastic insert wheel well liners we can buy however I personally am not a fan of the look, the fit, how they mount nor the access/visual access lost by what it covers. The liners also don’t address the portion under the nose cone (directly above the radiator)

Appreciate the input and product info.

Cheers

Truck bed liner (rolled or sprayed on) is what most people use. I used a duplicolor water based brush on product but hurculiner and raptor liner has been popular from other builders. Triple layered in the wheel wells for added protection from star cracks in the paint from rocks

like Chewy said - Raptor Liner (https://amzn.to/47oqVwN) is pretty popular and has several application styles

I got a few rattle cans of it to darken up the aluminum in the rear wheel wells

Anyone willing to share some pictures of the finished results?

Do you have Princess Auto near you?

I know you have Candian Tire

These both work. The one from CT also comes in a 4L can which you can brush on. I use that to do the whole underside of the body.

This is not a great pic but you can see the rear wheel well panel(princess spray) and the underside of the body(CT spray) in that area.

Yes I have both.
In fact I have a can of that CT spray in my shop but wasn’t sure of its longevity. (Used it on an enclosed trailer).
How long have you had it on?
Did it go one with a decent thickness? (I found it to be quite thin regardless of coats.)

I spray it on the underbody with a shutz gun

I purchased a set of wheel well liners specifically designed to fit the Mk4 Roadster from Raptor Speedworks (http://vraptorspeedworks.com/mk-4-wheel-well-liner-kit/). Easy to install, they lend a very nice finished look to the wheel wells and absolutely protect the under body from road bits. I got the recommendation from a fellow in the Atlanta Cobra Club who pointed out a spider crack on the top of the front DS fender. Although he installed the guards after the fact, he is happy there will be no additional stone strikes. Luckily, I installed a set early on before any impact issues.

I’ll check them out. I too have one of those cracks.

Can anyone tell me what size the bulb seal is on the inner fender well rear panel?

Guy that built my car cut it way short.

How has that rock guard held up on the undersides?
I’m at the point of needing to roll some black in the wheel wells.

Seems to be holding up well, no complaints. I am in southern ontario so no winter driving.

Here's a video of applying the bedliner to the body. It's my first video so bare with it.

Ended up making my own liners with a few sheets of 1/8” ABS and bulb seal from McMaster Carr.
Half the cost compare to buying a set for me north of the boarder and I like the custom fab stuff anyways.
Edit: did move them up a bit for bump clearance and added an ABS piece to the vertical face.
