Mk4 rear bumper install advice

Hey guys
I believe I read somewhere here recommendations when installing the back tube bumper with over riders that rather than use the grommets on the back which would affect trunk lid alignment, to use rubber washers instead under the steel washers on both inside and outside of the body.
Does that sound correct?

Yes.

You can get stainless washers with rubber already on them. I just polished them up with Mothers's and installed. 18 years and the still look good!
