MK4 ground Clearance

I didn't use the side pipes. I have my exhaust system under the car using X pipes. I would like to raise my ground clearance about an inch and a half , if possible. I have been told by some knowledgeable people , who have built several cobras, that I can raise the height of the car by adjusting the shocks. Is that a possibility? Is there any unforeseen problems with raising the ground clearance? Any come back on this would be appreciated.

What shocks are you using single or double adjustable? If your shocks(coil overs) are already in the bottom hole locations(on top) in the frame you will have to adjust the spring seats on each coilover with the tool provided by FF. I think it is usually in with the door latch parts. Pretty easy to do, try and adjust all 4 corners the same amount of turns.

you'll need to get the car re-aligned after adjusting the ride height as well.

Single or double adjustable shocks make no difference as far as ride height goes. Raising it up is simply a matter of turning the spring collars which once the weight is off of the suspension doesn't require a tool. As Chewy said raising the ride height that much will require a realignment and if you're running a straight axle you'll have to make adjustments to reset the pinion angle. If IRS you're going to be running the CV joints at more severe angles. Frankly, raising it that much is not going to look good. Unless you have the car extremely low now, like less than a 4" ride height front and rear, bringing it up to a ride height of 5.5-6 inches or more is going to make it look like a Cobra version of a jacked up 4X4. But hey, that's just one guy's opinion ;)

That high will kill the handling of the car. I would NEVER do it, poor handling and fugly too.

Having the proper ride height is really a necessity for proper handling.

Here’s my Mk4 with spin tech 7000 mufflers and 2 1/4 round pipe, no x pipe. The mufflers are also 2 1/4. I’m a bit over 4 inches at the tubes, 3 1/2 at the mufflers. Never had a real problem, just have to be cautious about speed bumps, etc.
