Hello everyone. I am seriously considering a 33 hot rod build. I was talking to a friend of mine about my long time desire to build a hot rod and he suggested I take a look at Factory Five. Well, after about 10 minutes of poking around the web site I knew I had found my project. I have registered to attend the build class in late March so I can confirm this is the direction I want to go. If all goes as planned, I hope to order in the late summer time frame. I plan to build as a roadster with bike fenders. Oh and hood without side covers most of the time. I think this car begs for a 5 speed...but I see so many with automatics. Anyone care to share some insight on this? I'm also looking for some opinions about power plant choices. I am thinking of either a 302 build or a 4.6L for a more modern power plant.....thoughts?

BTW.....my first car was a 72 Buick Skylark GS 455 automatic. :-) .....I miss that car.

I look forward to being part of the Factory Five Family.

Welcome! From what I see around here with my freinds is most of us are in our 50's or 60's and like to do the car cruises. Most of the cruises turn into grid lock before the day is over. The clutch leg gets quit tired after a few hours of driving. That's where the auto shines.I still run the 5 speed and love it.I cruise the Woodward Dream Cruise a few days before the start of the cruise and park and watch the day of the cruise. To each their own.
