Hi all,
This is my second factory five. I have a Daytona coupe as my other and am now starting a cobra. I am leaving the body on it and going to get the wheels on it so I can roll it onto my lift for storage while I tackle other projects.
Hit a bit of a snag with the rear brakes. This is a 2004 mustang axle that I put in shorter moser fox body length axles. The last one I built had a 87 fox body rear end…fit with some minimal shimming.
As I am mocking this one up the caliper seems to need a ton of shimming. I am probably going to need 8 washers to get things to center up. Each side seems about the same. I was planning on doing this aggressive shimming an buying longer caliper bracket mounting bolts to accommodate this. Anyone seen this before? I can make it work, but perhaps I am missing something more simple and elegant. Check it out and let me know your thoughts. I am thinking this is a result of the axle swap.
