Well, I have search and searched but can't find a simple answer for this, so here I am again...

I have the Vintage Air heater/defroster unit supplied by FFR but hate the control knob. I'm wondering if I can simply control the fan using a switch on the dash and connect the heater power supply on the RF harness to that switch on one side and the other to the orange fan wire (which is the fan 'high' position) to control the fan. Or maybe use a on/off/on switch with one 'on' position connected to the red wire for medium speed and the other 'on' position to the orange wire for 'high' speed so I can choose between the two. I don't think I would ever need the 'low' speed. I don't see why this won't work but wanted to throw it out there. (Obviously using a switch robust enough to handle the amperage required.)

The other piece of the puzzle would be the heater valve control. I can rig up a cable to actuate the FFR supplied valve, but would like to be able to do this with a two position switch instead. I would like to use a simple servo actuated valve, but every valve I've looked up seems to have multiple wires/relays/etc. I'm just wanting one that I can manually control as 'open' or 'closed'. Can I get a valve like this and wire it directly to a switch to do that? Was looking at this one:

Can I modify it to work on a simple switch? I'm not familiar with servos. Thanks!

I have this valve right before the heater core inlet with a simple toggle on the dash to allow hot water through the heater cores. This is an independent function from the fan, but I suspect they could be tied together.

I replaced the combination fan speed turn knob/mechanical pull cable by Vintage with a dedicated fan speed knob and a toggle controlled flow solenoid.

I’m using a similar control valve switch to JJK. It’s normally closed with 2 wires (power, ground) and connected to a toggle switch on the dash.

The fan speed switch is vintage air with the same wire terminal positions as the original. I bought the knob from Digi Key.202708202707

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I thought I would update after the install. Made a bracket to mount this and a toggle switch on the dash to open/close. I also used a three way toggle to select between medium or high fan speed so I don't have any knobs on the dash. (I hate knobs on the dash.) Tested it out and works great.

As you get the air out of your coolant system and verify there are no leaks, make sure to also test things with the valve opened. You may need to add a bit of coolant to account for the volume inside the lines when the valve is closed.

Good point, but yes I did when I first cranked the engine. Flipped the switch to open the valve and both heater hoses got super hot. Topped off fluids once it cooled down.
