I got a set of these ducts from 'the site which will not be named' - they're quality parts, but wondering how to affix them solidly behind the mesh?

they don't sit flush, so I'm assuming some trimming would be needed to get them to fit around the body a bit better
what product to use? the underbody is already undercoated
assuming I could use a paint stick and some rubber bands to hold the ducts in place while the glue dries?
up for some fun ideas :)

I used huge beads of clear silicone. Then I made a bracket for the hose maybe 3-4 inches back. I felt that if the hose did any flexing behind the bracket then there would be much less stress on the silicone.

I've installed a bunch of them. Trim to shape and like Craig said, bed them in a generous amount of silicone. Use a paint stick behind and a paint stick in front then pull tight with a zip tie. Give it 24 hours to set, cut the tie and you'll be good to go!

I also used silicone to attach mine. Just make sure you get paintable clear or black.

I found this to be a really strong adhesive that works great for this kind of application.

100% pure silicone, which is what you want to use for this, is not paintable. The paintable "siliconized" acrylic or latex tends to harden and crack however pure silicone does not.

What Mr Kleiner said! That's gospel!

FWIW - What Ken recommended to me to glue on the mesh screens into the brake and trans cooler openings was Permatex ultra black RTV silicone. I believe it's also a pure silicone, but it's black and blends in perfectly and bonds like crazy to the undercoating that he sprayed on the underside of the body.

I like the black RTV, used it on the panels that are black truck bed liner on the out side and to fill those gaps.

I used screws to secure the intakes to their openings (#6-32 x 3/4”) so that they can be removed if necessary.

Will add to the silicone list ease of install longevity. Screens have been on since the car was built. Also have a big duct with a screen on the "Oil Cooler" opening that is used as a cool air intake. Has also held up over time.
